On 25th August 2016, L’Oréal Malaysia created art with the participation of 145 L’oréalians across divisions in conjunction with the 8th edition of Citizen Day. Our employees took a day off work to divert their time, energy and creativity towards children with disability by painting murals and art jamming. The day was spent with special needs children at the Spastic Children’s Association of Selangor and Federal Territories (SCASFT), a care centre which provides help and assistance by trained personnel to families with children suffering from cerebral palsy.
This year, L’Oréal Malaysia collaborated with WeCare Journey, a non-profit organization with a vision of helping families with disabled people find the right care and support they need. The two activities which took place were mural paintings designed by artist Aleff, and Art Jam. The artsy side of the children and L’oréalians were successfully translated into beautiful works of art on the walls and canvases. Abstract paintings of flowers and birds done by the children with assistance of our employees managed to raise a good RM2850 for WeCare Journey and SCASFT.
At L’Oréal Malaysia, we are encouraged by the fact that our employees took time to volunteer and contribute towards beautifying the centre, bringing smile through art with the children. As Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give”, we further urge our employees to create social value by being personally involved in creating sustainable actions for the betterment of the community we are in.
The success of the event was clearly portrayed on the smiley faces of both the children and employees, making the day a momentous one. Happy moments were captured using the Citizen Day app, with striking borders and colourful stickers to further enhance the pictures. Needless to say, giving the children a memorable experience on one hand and having fun on the other was Citizen Day killing two birds with one stone.
With party packs and ice creams to enjoy, the day was a wrap!
